Easyjet fly from the end of March, direct to Heraklion from Gatwick, Luton, Bristol, Manchester, and direct to Chania from Gatwick. Also direct flights from Berlin, Geneva and Milan.

Easyjet also fly all year round from Paris, Berlin, Milan, Rome, London Gatwick and Luton to Athens from where you can take an internal flight or overnight ferry to Chania. Can be very cheap if you book well in advance.

Ryanair to Chania, now flying directly from Bologna, Brussels, Frankfurt, Milan, Oslo, Pisa, Rome, Stockholm, East Midlands, Glasgow Prestwick, Leeds Bradford & London Stanstead.

Transavia direct flights to Heraklion from Paris Orly, Lyon, Nantes, Rotterdam & Amsterdam Schiphol. Transavia direct to Chania from Amsterdam Schiphol & Copenhagen.

Daily scheduled flights via Athens:

Scheduled flights to Athens arrive daily from most major cities worldwide. You can then either fly on to Crete or take the overnight ferry. Aegean Air are generally a bit cheaper than Olympic for the internal hop Athens/Chania, and you can book online. We can arrange for a taxi or hire car to meet you at Chania airport or Souda ferry port. Chania airport is about 45 minutes drive from Gavalohori.

UK charter flights:

Tui Airways fly from more than 21 UK airports, direct to over 70 worldwide destinations, including Crete Chania (CHQ) and Crete Heraklion (HER) airports.

Charter flights direct to Heraklion are available during the season from most regional airports, several days a week. We can arrange a taxi or hire car to meet you from Heraklion. Heraklion airport is about a 2-hour drive away from Gavalohori.

Ferries:


If you fly to Athens airport there is a bus to Piraeus (the port of Athens) which takes about an hour, or you can take a taxi – make sure your flight arrives in time to get to the port. The Anek Lines ferries usually leave Piraeus at 21.00 and arrive Souda (The port for Chania) at 05.30 am the next day. The return ferry leaves Souda at 21.00 and arrives Piraeus at 05.30.
They are very comfortable and you can book a cabin as well as drive onto the ferry with your car. Souda is about 25 minutes’ drive from Gavalohori.

Gavalohori has several well-supplied food shops, cafes and tavernas that are just a few minutes walk away.

We will send detailed directions to our houses, depending on your point of arrival in Crete. We can arrange for your hire car, or a taxi, to meet you at Chania or Heraklion Airport.
